Newton Investment Conference 2021 – A Hybrid Case Study

Following on from the impactful studio shoot and broadcast of the 2020 Newton Investment Conference, in 2021 we had the pleasure of welcoming an audience back to the live event.

The Newton Investment Conference 2021 took place at the London Science Museum on Thursday 18 November. The event took the format of a hybrid conference with attendees joining in-person at the event and also online via the customised Newton branded virtual event platform.

Opting for the customisable 3D platform enabled us to develop the platform designs to resemble the Science Museum to enable attendees both in person and virtually to follow the same journey to the event; in via the Science Museum entrance, through the reception area and up in to Illuminate where the event was taking place.

The in-person audience experienced the stunning panoramic views of the London skyline from the 5th floor event space of Illuminate. The event space took the design of a TV style studio set up with Daisy McAndrew as the host of the event.

Daisy was joined on the stage by a variety of speakers throughout the event with the content shown on the large LED curved screen to ensure all attendees within the room would have a clear visual of the event content. The live event and on-screen content was broadcast to all virtual attendees via the virtual event platform. Attendees in the room and online were able to participate in the Q and A sessions by using the attendee app and Q and A function within the event platform respectively.

The attendee app and virtual event platform were aligned, allowing attendees in the room and online to have access to the same engagement and interaction tools for the event including Q and A, polling, networking and discussion forums as well as headshots and biographies for each of the speakers.

With 103 attendees joining the live event in-person and 155 attending virtually, the hybrid format allowed the event to be more accessible than ever before.

The virtual event platform remained open for 4 weeks post event to allow attendees to log back in to view the content again should they wish to do so. This highlighting the increased accessibility of the event content.

The event content included a mix of live and pre-recorded content. By including pre-recorded speaker content, this allowed the client to include every speaker they wished to even if they could not make the event on the day. This highlights the true hybrid format of the event – extending to attendees and speakers.
